leading man Peter Doherty recently told a French interviewer that the album is currently being written. he explained that he's going to be writing lyrics for the music that Mik Whitnall (Babyshambles' guitarist) has written. watch the interview below:

Pete Doherty is stirring up trouble
he's challenged the band with an ego like no other: Oasis.
"With Oasis stepping up a gear and proving they've still got it, they need to be shown there are people out there who can surpass them. Can we match them? The quality is good [in Oasis], but there really is no competition because my band is the greatest in the world and we're going to prove it."
Babyshambles are definitely better than Oasis. I hope the Gallaghers don't blow a fuse over this

Albert Hammond Jr collaborated with Babyshambles?!
how did I not know about this?
I am excited to say the least.
the band is called Helsinki, headed by Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell.
this song is catchy! those guitars are so distinctly Albert. =)
I'll update soon when I acquire mp3s.

Pete Doherty and co banned from festival

the authorities in Wiltshire, England were worried that Babyshambles would incite violence.
the band plans on playing a private show near the festival, which was canceled

one more step towards an Orwellian society...this is utter bull. rock n roll isn't about a well behaved crowd. it's about getting fucked up and rowdy with your friends and enjoying the music. which, most of the time, bashes society and promotes law breaking anyways.

Pete Doherty gone solo
one of our favourite Brits is trying his luck at a solo career, The Libertines didn't work out, but it seems like he's still on board with Babyshambles.

Pete Doherty behind bars
so Pete Doherty of The Libertines/Babyshambles has been arrested and will spend about 3 months in prison. That sucks. His situation always saddened me, he is such an amazingly talented musician who has some really fucked up things in his life.

on another note, I finally got the new Panic album. I adore it. when people said they had a butt load of Beatles' influences, they weren't kidding. I heard some Aretha Franklin too haha. a formal review will shortly follow.
Panic at the disco - When the day met the night [mp3]
finally, Bob Dylan has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize.
how cool is that?

ahh frustration
gah I'm studying like crazy for my Shakespeare midterm...I really want Neon Bible and Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer but I must resist...I have far too many unopened CDs as it is and I don't have time to do them justice. plus I'm broke. *le sigh*
once my exam is over on Tuesday, I will party-hardy (it's my roommate's birthday that day hurrah!) and then get around to reviewing the Division Day and Music for Animals concerts...ah and I want to read The Struggle That Must Be...and I've gotta start my history paper sometime soon...it's due in a few weeks (and I must research for it...)
but, let's look at the bright side: I found a ticket for the Vampire Weekend show at Rickshaw Stop! and then there's MCR, Panic and The Hush Sound, The Honorary Title, The Dodos, SSLYBY and the Morning Benders to look forward to! sadly, DCFC tix sold out before I even woke up last week. but oh well live music is live music. I am pissed that The Kooks aren't coming to SF for their US tour though.
anyhow, this is a music blog after all, so I'm including a playlist of mp3s that I feel appropriately describe my mood.
