new Radiohead song/video: Lotus Flower (+ link to album)

from The King of Limbs, which got an early release today. buy it HERE

Thom Yorke decided to do drugs and pretend he was a mime. that hat is fucking cool. the song is closely aligned with In Rainbows stuff, that ethereal sound so removed from their earlier guitar driven albums.

Grand Lake sign to HAD records, stream album, release video

I am happy to announce that Oakland's Grand Lake, a personal favourite of mine, have signed to the newly formed Hippies Are Dead Records (run by a friend of mine who writes the most excellent Hippies Are Dead music blog).

Their debut album, which is fantastic to the extreme, is called Blood Sea Dream and will see a late May release. You can expect an album review around that time, but in the mean time, you can stream the whole thing HERE

new video: The Soft Pack - "Answer to Yourself"

my favourite song on The Soft Pack's fantastic album now has a visual accompaniment. it's Mclovin!

MTV Shows

new video: Vampire Weekend - Giving up the Gun

I remember reading a couple of days ago that Joe Jonas was in this video, and I am happy to say that I didn't know which one that was, or what his role is in his "band". in any case, Jake Gyllenhal made me CRACK UP. well done, sir.

does anybody else find it amusing that Rostam has put on weight?

(this is still my favourite track on Contra, followed closely by "Diplomat's Son")

new video: The Soft Pack - C'mon

you know you have it bad for a band when you can't hear a single without hearing the next track upon its final seconds

when this finished playing, my mind started singing "Down on Loving"

read what I had to say about the fantastic debut LP from this band HERE

new video: Spoon - Written in Reverse

I love being at the forefront of all of this new Spoon material. the way I got into the band was as follows: at the end of 2007, I started really following music blogs (I started mine in the beginning of '08) and all of the best of 2007 lists featured Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and AC's Strawberry Jam. I bought both albums knowing NOTHING about either band. I still love both albums--Spoon, however, became an instant fave of mine. seeing them in concert sealed the deal for me.

anyhow, I really like the video. it captures everything I love about Transference...all of that raw creative energy doused in keys. I love Britt Daniel & co. and I think I should go to SXSW this year.
