Noel Gallagher leaves Oasis

the mastermind and chief songwriter behind the famed British band has had enough. my condolences to Oasis fans everywhere, but it seems as though Oasis is done as we know it. I include myself in the category of fans, even though my enthusiasm for the band waned as the years have progressed.

Noel only wrote a handful of songs off Dig Out Your Soul, right? the less he wrote, the worse they got. Noel was always the talented one, the level headed one. in an interview with SPIN, he even admitted that Ryan Adams' version of "Wonderwall" was better than either he or Liam could ever do, which is the absolute truth.

good going Noel, now you're free to spread your wings. for the record, I'd like to see a solo album. if Jarvis Cocker can do it...

here's the first track from their breathtaking debut, Definitely Maybe.

Noel Gallagher: Ryan Adams' version of Wonderwall is superior

I'm reading the newest issue of Spin, and in an interview, Noel responds to the claim that Liam hates singing Wonderwall by saying: "I hate him singing it too. Liam doesn't sound like he did ten years ago. Your voice and your body change. We've never got it right. It's too slow or too fast. I think Ryan Adams is the only person who ever got that song right. I'd love to do the Ryan Adams version. but in front of 60,000 Oasis fans that wouldn't be possible" (Oct 2008 issue pg 70)

now, I know this will make me feel bad when I hear them at the Oracle in December, because you know they will play it.

anyhow, I do adore the Ryan Adams version. enjoy it below:

it's a good interview. you can read it online for free by flipping to page 70 in the digital version of Spin

Noel also tells Spin of how drugs helped him right brilliant songs, and how he thinks Radiohead are full of crap

Noel Gallagher attacked on stage.

at 1:30

that is so sad. why would you go to an Oasis show (which are always sold out thank you very much) and do something like that? I mean I know it's fun to fuck around, but come on, respect the band. as if Noel didn't have enough to complain about...

people give Oasis so much shit. it's not even funny. you'd think that people would be nicer to a band that is universally acknowledged as one of the greats out there. I love how people revere Radiohead but trash Oasis. no, I really don't love it. grow up guys.

Noel Gallagher promises a less mainstream record.

The guitarist says that the latest Oasis effort "Dig Out Your Soul" will NOT be the anticipated "Britpop". I haven't been excited about a record like this since Albert Hammond Jr's Como Te Llama. I love Oasis's music already, I wonder how great they will be with a more indie approach.
