The Strokes Post #627

so this combines everything I love about old Strokes with everything I love about new Strokes. UCoD in a nutshell, basically

he threw the mic stand! IN A STROKES VIDEO THAT IS NOT A LIVE CONCERT! I worship you, Julian C. that little grin at the end...my g-d that could make a fan girl out of Ozzy.

Actually, Julian throws the mic stand in the music video for "Last Nite" - which is why he does it on the line "Everybody's been singing the same song for ten years" in the UCOD video. :)Is most nifty.

Yeah, but technically the video for 'Last Nite' is a live recording of the band - it's from back in the days when JC thought the idea of lip-syncing to your own song for the camera seemed "retarded" I think haha.

Agree with what you said about the mix of old and new - loving the video. And also, "that little grin at the end...my g-d that could make a fan girl out of Ozzy." = amazing haha. As someone who is readily a Strokes fan girl, much high-pitched squealing certainly occurred here.

True, true, but it's not a live concert, either. They were only performing live for a camera and film crew.

Besides, I mainly pointed that out because I love the self-referencing.

yeah but they didn't mean for it to become the video, did they? I love the self referencing as well. and this video rocks on so many levels.

They did intend it to be the video. At least according to Wikipedia. Not that Wikipedia is precisely the source of all accurate knowledge . . .

And oh yes, hell yes, it does. As does the song.

I'm going to guess you've probably alreay listened to the 30 second Angles previews that have been floating about the interwebs thanks to iTunes? iTunes has already taken them down, and samples have been removed from YouTube and Soundcloud, but you can still listen to them here: http://blogs.1077theend.com/aharms/2011/02/28/the-strokes-angels-album-preview/ If you need them for a post, anyhow. It seems to be the only place left online with the clips.

no I never listened to them
it was a conscious decision. I want to hear the whole songs.
I listened to 30 sec on UCOD when it first came out cause we didn't have anything at that point. but now we have two whole songs, and three when you count last nite's premiere of life is simple in the moonlight (EPIC)
