Julian C is between the DP album and the TCV album. I love one and can't stand the other. essentially, I love about half of the list, and cannot stand the other half. it was really nice to see Girls' Album in the top five though.
what is really interesting about this list is it reminded me of an album I had completely forgotten about...Antony and the Johnson's The Crying Light. damn good album.

Wow, no arctic monkeys and franz for spin? I like the NME list much better, plus Julian was one spot better :)
Although spin did rate Girls higher...
oh so many lists!
yeah I know.
that's why you're better off just reading my stuff.
Hmm. I tried to listen to the Horrors and had to shut it off within ten seconds. I dunno if that counts as trying though haha.
Dang, and I really liked Humbug.
the best thing the Horrors have done all year is when their lead singer covered the Black Lips.
their new album, while I didn't hate it, was one of those albums where I recognized that so many people would hear it and think: brilliance, absolute perfection...but I was not one of them.
I loved Humbug, but only after I ignored it for a few months.
This list angers me. Grr.
I'd like to read at least ONE of these lists that doesn't have Animal Collective at No. 1. It's very boring when the whole of the music press agrees like that. I've not heard anything from the album, it may be amazing, but I'm put off just because all the critics are fawning all over it.
I like the fact that Spin has Kiss at 40 though. Not because I'm a big Kiss fan, just because it seems really incongrous with the rest of the list.
you should really check it out. if an album of the year is unanimous then i don't know how any music fan could ignore it regardless of any prior bias.
Is This It - 2 on Rolling Stone's albums of the decade.
Yeah, I'm sure everyone here understands what the comment above me says...
could be dissing the strokes for all we know!
gah thanks k.!
@Rol - It seems like it was the same way with TV on the Radio last year.
holy moley I feel the SAME way about Dear Science as I do about Merriweather. good, not great; obviously TRYING to be monumental and brilliant, but faltering; overhyped; and basically, those albums exist to prove that I am not a hipster. because hipsters gobble that shit up.
Agreed about what you said about the horrors.
I do enjoy animal collective. They will be in my top 10, but by no means number one. Enjoyable, great, but not the greatest record ever as most seem to think now.
