watch: Delta Spirit perform "Trashcan" + new album details

If you thought Delta Spirit sounded like a barn-yard band before, you're in for a doozy. Watch them perform "Trashcan" for Rolling Stone at Lollapalooza below:

Last week, I was lucky enough to see Delta Spirit perform four new songs at a sold out gig at Lincoln Hall in Chicago.

"Empty House", "Tear It Up", "Idaho" (my favourite) and "Otherside" will appear on the band's third album, which will feature new guitarist William McLaren (who previously played with Cults).

The album will be wrapped up in NY this year and will consist of the ten best songs chosen by the band from the thirty they wrote. Drummer Brandon Young describes the album as "the most exciting thing we've ever done". Delta Spirit are hoping for a February release, but nothing is set in stone yet.

More details in the video below:

Arctic Monkeys: live!

"all that's left is the proof that love's not only blind but deaf "

ah, bootlegs, how I love thee.

Arctic Monkeys - Black Sessions, France (2006) [zip]
sample: Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum (live, Black Sessions) [mp3]

Arctic Monkeys - Live at The London Astoria (2007) [zip]
sample: Arctic Monkeys - Leave Before the Lights Come On (live, London Astoria) [mp3]

Arctic Monkeys - Live at Glastonbury (2007) [zip, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!]
sample: Arctic Monkeys - Balaclava (live, Glastonbury) [mp3]
they do "Temptation Greets You Like a Naughty Friend" for the first time. my oh my how I love good b-sides. hear that crowd go.

Arctic Monkeys - live album (2006?) [zip]
sample: Arctic Monkeys - The View from the Afternoon [mp3]
this one is mislabeled as "Apollo Theatre" but that concert happened in 2007 with FWN songs. I don't know the origin of the bootleg, but all of the songs are from their debut, so it's probably from 2006.

I hope you enjoy em, K.

new video: Black Lips - Sea of Blasphemy (live)

I've only recently started listening to Black Lips, but I am addicted to them.

Jimmy Eat World - "A Sunday"

this song is from Clarity, one of my all time favourite albums.

Jimmy Eat World have been on a ten year anniversary tour for the album, playing it in its entirety. I'm really mad that tickets sold out before I could snag one. the Fillmore concert took place last month, if my memory serves me correctly

anyhow, here is an mp3, (courtesy of SPIN.com) of a live version of the aforementioned song:

The Killers perform "Human" + "Spaceman" on SNL

this song is growing on me. every day I hate it less and less. this live version is a lot cooler than the studio one, because it's so much more synth and so much less pop-crap. by the time their October 21st Warfield show rolls by, I will probably love this song. and I don't hate myself for that prospect. The Killers are one of my all time favourite bands after all, I've gotta be somewhat biased in their favour.

UPDATE:

here is the video for Spaceman. this song rocks so much. this performance gives me chills it's so good. THIS IS THE BAND THAT WE KNOW AND LOVE! ah! I love it so much. now I don't even have to force myself to like "Human", this song makes up for it so much. this performance emulates the song's brilliance a lot clearer than this one.

Mark's bass line reminds me of the guitars in "7 nation army" by The White Stripes. good stuff.

Cold War Kids on Jimmy Kimmel

a very very cool performance of a song bursting with energy!

apparently, the post I wrote about the leaked Loyalty to Loyalty was deleted off of my blog, that's kind of freaky. oh well, I'll post again on Tuesday.
