The National debut two new songs for Canadian Radio ("Rylan" and "I Need My Girl")

The band played these gems for Toronto’s Q1 LIVE. I love the direction the band is taking, but I want more! Listen and download below:

new songs: The Dead Trees - "Back to LA" and "Older"

the songs sound more like Little Joy than their own debut. "Older" also has a very Velvet Underground vibe. I like it. The Dead Trees played these tracks in frontman Michael Cummings' Los Angeles backyard for Fader Magazine

new music from Arcade Fire - "Speaking in Tongues" and "Culture War"

The music video for "The Suburbs" was taken from a film which Spike Jonze made for Arcade Fire entitled “Scenes From The Suburbs”. It includes these two new songs which very much fit with the general feeling of the band's third record. "Speaking in Tongues" features David Byrne (of Talking Heads). The songs were played for the first time today on Zane Lowe's radio show, listen below:

This should tide fans over until the band releases the deluxe version of their epic album The Suburbs on June 27th.

Oh Annie by The Morning Benders

“My only regret with Big Echo is that this wasn’t on it. I wrote it after watching Annie Hall for the 100th time.”

Arcade Fire - Month of May + The Suburbs

so I have not listened to any Arcade Fire tracks from The Suburbs on principle, as I wanted to hear the whole album all at once, but I accidentally listened to the track below, because it showed up on a podcast I subscribe to

Arcade Fire - Month of May [mp3]

holy moley can I say I freaking love this? it's crazy like Violent Femmes, only darker. I never would have expected this, I thought the band was gonna stick to the Baroque-pop thing through and through

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs [mp3]

this one is slower, more airy and Win really pushes the limits vocally as a haunting piano chimes in the background. well done.

I am half angry, half thrilled at The Needle Drop for using these songs in their June 5th podcast.

The Suburbs will be force to be reckoned with, indeed

MGMT - Congratulations [mp3]

I am very much digging these two tracks. way to go, Andrew n Ben.

two new songs from The National

the band showcased these two gems a few nights ago in Boston:

The National - The Runaway (live, Boston 23 May 2009) [mp3]

The National - Blood Buzz Ohio (live, Boston 23 May 2009) [mp3]

looks like the follow up to Boxer is going to be excellent. at least these Brooklyn boys won't disappoint me.

BONUS:
The National - So Far Around the Bend [mp3, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!]
this is probably my favourite song from the compilation Dark Was the Night, one of the best releases of the year so far. do buy it if you haven't already, it's an incredible collection featuring some of my favourite artists (Spoon, Beirut, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird and Arcade Fire off the top of my head) and it's for charity (AIDS research a la the RED campaign). pick it up on AMAZON

The Killers have lost it.

and by it I mean both their minds,
and their talent.

The Killers - Four Winds (Bright Eyes cover) [mp3]

The Killers - Tidal Wave [mp3]

the following song followed "Tidal Wave" on my itunes, and it is a more accurate representation of why I used to adore them:

The Killers - Move Away [mp3]
from the Spiderman 3 soundtrack

WHAT THE HELL, KILLERS, YOU USED TO BE GOOD!

The Killers play new songs

holy goodness gracious, this is good stuff.

listen to Neon Tiger:

and

Spaceman:

Spaceman is so very Hot Fuss, but I kind of prefer Neon Tiger. they're both lovely tunes though, and Spaceman has great tempo, a fantastic bass line.

The Killers are so great. They're gonna make such a major comeback with this new record, I can feel it. Not that I think they had sophomore slump or anything, I love Sam's Town, but that seems to be the consensus among music critics. Anyhow, yeah, keep your eyes (er, ears) peeled for new material from these talented Vegas boys!

enjoy my favourite Killers tune below:
