new Vampire Weekend: Cousins

[link to song has been removed]

it's erratic in every good sense of the word. Vampire Weekend are scoffing at sophomore slump like I used to scoff at people taking the LSATs.

I like this song a helluva lot more than I like any of my cousins. and yes, it gets better with every listen. I especially love the pseudo-Christmas-y ending.

Ezra doesn't have time to remember to breathe, he's too busy trying to maintain the aural equivalence of confetti. effect achieved, sir.

What's so wrong with LSATs, you dumb child genius?

Listening to the song and... woah! Shit! This is really weird and cool, thanks.

'cause law school sucks your soul out in exact inverse proportion as Julian's singing nourishes it. I was actually considering a career in law until I read law briefs and spent an entire semester in a law library and understood why the hell they are paid so damn much. it's scary horrible.

Yes, I believe the law profession has literally driven my uncle insane. He acts like a crackhead now.

I saw them at Lollapalooza! =]

And for Web Sheriff. What's the deal? If people check out the music, and they hate it, they won't keep it. If they like it, they will most likely buy it when it sees release. If they downloaded it without buying it, VW STILL doesn't lose money. When a CD is produced, stores pay for copies. The only way an artist really 'loses money' is when they don't have the demand to keep making the CD be in the stores, but they still have that initial cash.

And, people sharing MP3s gathers interest in the musician they're sharing, and then people do buy the product BECAUSE THEY'VE ACTUALLY HEARD OF IT AS THE RESULT.

I've bought 'LP' by Discovery (VW's sideproject), I plan to buy 'Vampire Weekend' as soon as I get my next paycheck (I haven't been able to get to it yet), and I'm definitely buying 'Contra' in January now that I've heard this 'pirated' song and decided that I like it so much.

well said!
I didn't like Discovery, I deleted it right away 'cause I never keep stuff I don't like, and when I like things, I buy them when I am able. just bought the Dead Weather's album on vinyl, been listening to that for months but it doesn't make me want to buy it any less.

as for VW, I ran down in the POURING RAIN to buy the cd the day it was released. I've gone to see them live, told loads of people about the band, and therefore do not feel guilty in the least in sharing mp3s.
yayy Contra =)
