The Strokes Post #224

I spent the day in San Francisco yesterday, and had to keep shaking my head at all of the hipsters. they really are everywhere, but it doesn't make me love the city any less.

here's a great review of Julian's "11th Dimension" from hipster central itself.

enjoy.

What does the American term hipster actually mean? I see it everywhere but all I ever think of is on the hips "hipster" jeans.

Hi, dear.
Thank you so much for the link to the interview. And for all the shared info, insights and music.

hipsters are people who listen to bands only when they are super obscure and then forsake them when they get a little recognition. hipsters are people who wear expensive clothes that look like they're from thrift stores. hipsters are people who wear big sunglasses in the winter, and the Palestinian scarf even though they're not making a political statement.
they think they are "cool" but really are just stuck up people who, on principle, hate anything even remotely "mainstream"

they listen to a lot of Animal Collective and worship Pitchfork

hahahaha I've been gone way too long but I bet that 9 out of 10 of the hipsters you saw that day go to school with me (the women anyway). I have met sooo many people here from San Francisco.
