The Strokes Post #56

a great interview. that's rare.

I've been a lazy blogger. what you can expect soon: a review of FRANZ (rad.), an interview with a cool new band and and and I'll probably dig up some good shit on NME

shit, it's Thursday already. where do the hours go?! ah, yes, concerts and excessive trips to Amoeba.

"FRANZ" as in "Franz Ferdinand"? Their new album is terrible.

no, I think you're a bit confused, let me sort that out for you

Franz Ferdinand's new album is the best release of the year so far.

on what grounds do you deem it "terrible"? it's catchy, it's synthy without being generic, it still sounds like good old Franz Ferdinand.

Yeah it sounds like old Franz Ferdinand but without the decent songs.

The first album was spectacular, the second one boring and the new one sleep inducing.

Clear cut case of a band that had something going for them once, but is only still alive because of the high they got from the hype they received once upon a time.

They have clearly overstayed their welcome, not unlike The Strokes. ;)

Bands these days just don't know to quit, both The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand made a classic debut that will forever remain the pinnacle of their career.

They both had their Never Mind The Bollocks moment, but at least the Sex Pistols had the decency to go away after the first album.

"Leave 'em hungry" is the most important motto in music, not "Grinding out one lackluster album after another that contain nothing and hope people won't notice and just remember that we were good one".

Oasis, I'm looking at you too.

Put a fork in em and give them a reality check. They're done.

as much as I love Never Mind the Bullocks, both The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand had better debuts than Sex Pistols. while I'll admit the second FF record faltered a bit, their best song (The Fallen) is on that album.

The Strokes have yet to write a bad song. all of their albums are incredible. their sound keeps getting more complex. have you even heard Vision of Division?
