this song is my heroin.
I love it when he bears his ink at 2:47. I was a bit disheartened that he left out the last two lines, but overall, it was a killer performance.
UPDATE:
it seems as though only 4/5 of The Strokes are returning to studio. this makes me so sad, I was stoked about Julian joining them.

You had me really scared for a minute. It sounded like you were saying Julian was not going to be a part of this record. After reading the article it just sounds like he's not back in the studio, yet. The Strokes have pretty much always recorded in this way. They all record their parts separately. It's probably a good thing that they are not all there at once. That hasn't really been working for them lately.
hm, I didn't know that
well the reason I was upset was because I'm pretty sure they're still writing songs, right? so are they doing that without him, too?
sorry for the false alarm, btw.
Hey Hanan! did u know about this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/events/rockness/ isn't it amazing? I wish I lived in London =(
yeah dude I posted about that ages ago, and I am kind of sort of considering going to the UK for that weekend.
"The songs are pretty much done."
That surprised me. I thought there was still a lot of editing to be done before the final product, but seems they're down to the last kinks. It seems Julian has completely yielded, relinquished all control. Kind of disappointing, if that's so.
I got scared too!
My first thought when I read what you posted was that Albert was no longer going to be in the band. All is good though. -close call
Oh yes, 2:47! I actually didn't catch it the first time I saw it. I saw it when I when I was rewinding my DVR, watching it in slo-mo was nice :)
Yeah, he said in an interview that the songs were all going to be done before they head into the studio like the first record. I think it was that one from Japan that you posted a couple days ago. And that was from back in September.
I think this is a smaller deal than most of us would believe. So much of recording is just monotonous repetitive playing the same part over and over and over and over. Some bands can get it really fast (Radiohead did Paranoid Android in one take), but The Strokes aren't one of them.
And it's not like Julian and everyone won't be there together when the tweaks are being made for the recording. The most important thing at this point is who's producing the record and what type of tones and whatnot he's able to find bc the songs are done. View it this way: work has started & Strokes IV will be out two weeks quicker.
awh Eric you've made me feel better. ever the voice of reason.
