The Strokes Post #243

not to be the bearer of bad news, but NME has a looksie at why Strokes IV is taking so long to shape up.

"It's weird with the band, a band is actually a great way to ruin a friendship."
my heart stopped when I read that. I hope all of this is just a cover up for Albert (whom I sincerely hope is ok, but I think we can basically assume that he is indeed in rehab). since when have The Strokes been a democracy, anyways? I always thought that Jules was adamantly anal about his songwriting, with a few minor exceptions when he co-wrote songs on FIoE.

I actually decided to ignore that whole post (the one on NME) because NME are very good at stealing other peoples news and they're also very good at talking bullshit!

Denial? Maybe... :(

NME got it from the Sun, and the Sun's full of horseshit and I couldn't even find the original article. It's BS. Don'tcha worry.

Connor said it much cooler than I.

What if the reason Albert started doing hard drugs (cocaine, most likely) was because he heard Julian's solo album and realized he can never be that good?

This quote, even though I don't think it's something Julian would tell the press in a million years, has inspired me to start thinking about the apocalypse of Strokes nation.

no I think Eric is right, Albie was on hard drugs. Jules was the alcoholic. the thing is, even though my filter tells me to think that this is BS, the interview with him in SPIN kind of hints at the same thing. I don't know, I hope it's not true though

Eric, I think Albert got into drugs after dating that model whore. he should have pulled a Sid Vicious and stabbed that bitch.

I think Albert was on hard shit long before Agyness.

There was a speech given by Marc Spitz to Northwestern University that talked about partying with bands and journalistic integrity and all that bullshit and one of the examples he gave was doing cocaine with the Strokes. I read it in the Northwestern newspaper, but can't find it now. (Trust me it exists)

He did the article back in 2006 when Jules was sober, Nikolai was married and had a kid and Nick had twins (I believe). That leaves Fab and Albert.

Now it probably didn't get serious until recently because he took all that weight off and was touring with Coldplay and all that shit, but there's no way Albert started just this year.

And at this point, it's clear Albert was/is in rehab and Julian (from the interviews about the band's progress) is pissed. The Spin interview especially.

it makes me all the sadder whenever I watch his young, happy, marijuana loving face in In Transit.
Eric, I totally believe you. rock stars tend to do that. the thing is, going out with models usually exasperates the problem, so yeah, it probably got *serious* after Agyness.
